Simple Lizard

From time to time, my non folding friends asked me, how one can make sense of crease patterns. Realizing I had no model with a crease pattern that’s easy to read, I designed this (relatively) simple lizard. It’s the first crease pattern, where I put simplicity and neat references first.

Keeping in mind the simple structure, I soon decided on a packing. Some other folders have used the same idea, it might be the easiest way to make a lizard with toes. As far as I know, no one else has used the same 22.5° reference that I decided on. Since the reference is decicive for this kind of packing, I think I can call it my own design.
This lizard showed me, why I like more complex crease patterns better: since I had simplicity as my aim, I decided that the first draft is finished slightly less than an hour. Normally, I would begin optimizing the crease pattern now, but that has always made my designs more complex. So decided to leave it at that. It was crazy to see, how fast a design could be made, but I like my usual, slower process better.

After drawing the design, it took me some weeks before I folded it, since the crease pattern was drawn at the beginning of my vacation. Folding was fun, I understand, why some prefer the beuaty of simplicity.
