This model is really old, it´s my first presentable fantasy design. I was by some great origami dragons, I wanted to make a dragon with scales.
However I didn´t want to make such a huge grid, because at that time I only designed using paper and pencil. A big grid means a big amount of drawing (and even more erasing). That´s why I made just a little 48 x 48 grid for my “little” dragon :).
Seeing that many dragons feature no or just tiny spikes on the back, I wanted to change that in my dragon. That´s why I used the open back for spikes.
Additionally I didn´t go for the epic and great look, instead I wanted to make it look a little cute- another reason to call it “little”. The model also can be used as a reminder that “little” doesn´t equal easy.
Its crease pattern is based on a 48 x 48 grid and has book symmetry.
